Timmy Turner Spreads the Stoke in Surf City with the Belsky Family
In mid-March, Charlie and Cindy Belsky escaped the chilly weather at their home in D.C. and jetted off to sunny Huntington Beach, California. They had won a weekend surf package through United Airlines, which included a stay at the Shorebreak Hotel, a bag of the best Rip Curl beach gear, and best of all, a 2-hour surf lesson from Huntington Beach local surf hero, Timmy Turner.
"Meeting Cindy and Charlie, it was like I already knew them," recalls Timmy. "The second we all met we clicked. Their enthusiasm and motivation made it so fun and easy to introduce them to the art of surfing. I was honored to be the ambassador for Rip Curl and the city of Huntington Beach."
The couple picked up wetsuits and boards from the Rip Curl HB store on 5th and PCH, loaded up Chris Sardelis' classic 71 VW Van (who showed up to capture photos of the memorable day), and headed to the beach.
"Our experience of surfing lessons with Timmy Turner was better than we could have imagined," enthused Charlie. "We expected we might receive surf equipment and a couple of hours of Timmy's time, but the experience was far more than that. We talked with Timmy about surfing, but also things to do in the area, places to eat and each other's personal stories."
After a couple hours in the waves on the North Side of the Pier, the couple headed back to the Rip Curl store to get dry, relax and say their goodbyes.
"Timmy projects a genuine down to earth quality, one which felt very inclusive and made us feel very special," Belsky added. "My thanks to Rip Curl and Timmy for making this an experience my wife and will likely remember the rest of our lives."
