THE 2009 RIP CURL PRO BELLS BEACH: THE LEGACY CONTINUES
| From the same waters where Rip Curl was born, where some of the most legendary performances in the history of our sport have gone down, boasting 36 years as the longest running event in ASP history- the 2009 Rip Curl Pro at Bells Beach is locked and loaded to pit the best surfers in the world together at surfing's greatest natural amphitheater, April 7-18.
Whether it was Simon Anderson changing the sport in the '81 Rip Curl Pro or Curren and Occy exhibiting one of the greatest rivalries in '86- the Rip Curl Pro at Bells has transcended an event into a legacy, and this year promises to be no different. "There's a real energy about Bells that always excites me," said '07 World Champ and Rip Curl team rider Mick Fanning. "The Rip Curl Pro is where I got my first World Tour win so its special to me." Defending Rip Curl Pro Champ and reigning ASP World Champion, Kelly Slater, will be geared up and ready to go after another bell. "It's the best trophy you can win in surfing," Slater stated. Additionally, the Rip Curl Pro will play host to a music festival set to roll Easter weekend April 11-12, which showcase a variety of musical talent.
