Over a thousand surfers and beach lovers congregated on Saturday, Sept. 19th to make history at the Huntington Beach Pier. Attendees scored a Rip Curl “Surfboards in the Sand” t-shirt and headed to the beach for an epic photo that will be published in an upcoming issue of Transworld Surf and select international publications and will be remembered for years. The event celebrated the 100th Anniversary of the City of Huntington Beach and raised thousands of dollars for Orange County Coastkeepers and the Surfrider Foundation.
Sunny skies partnered with glassy, head-high surf to create ideal conditions for the memorable event. Live performances by 3x World Champ Tom Curren, The Wheeland Brothers, Nico Adams and more, interviews with “North Shore” cast Nia Peeples, Gregory Harrison, and Matt Adler, along with discounts at most of the local retailers and restaurants assured that the crowd had more than enough entertainment all afternoon.
