Rip Curl's Taylor Clark Makes it Back to Back Wins with NSSA National Championships Victory.
With the waves offering below average conditions at the NSSA National Championships at Huntington Beach's Southside pier, nonetheless the Rip Curl team showed up and brought their A-Game! Rip Curl's stand out junior surfer, Taylor Clark, 17, Encinitas, CA stole the show with his flawless above the lip surfing, and ability to blow the tops off mediocre waves. Taylor won the prestigious Open Men's Mayor Cup Final. TC is on a role after winning the VQS Championships in Newport Beach, the USA Surfing America Championships at Lower Trestles, and now the NSSA Nationals in HB. Taylor is on a roll that no California amateur surfer has ever achieved, meaning all eyes will be peeled his way when he paddles out for the upcoming US Open Pro Junior.
Rip Curl's newest addition to the team, 12-year-old Oahu native, Brisa Hennessy, finished strong with a second place in the 14 and under Open Girls division. This was her first year ever doing the NSSA and was one of the standouts during the whole event, earning her the Carissa Moore Rookie Of The Year Award!
Other Rip Curl riders making noise at Nationals were Bailey Nagy and Luke Gordon. North Shore Oahu shredder Bailey Nagy, 17, earned a second place in the prestigious Open Women's Mayor Cup Final, as well as a runner up finish in the Explorer Women's division. South Carolina's finest 13 year old, Luke Gordon, finished 6th place in the Explorer Boys division as well to cap a successful trip to Cali for the young Gordon.
Rip Curl is proud to have such great talent representing in surfing's top amateur competition. An NSSA National Title is what every young amateur surfer dreams of winning.
