Rip Curl Juniors Dominate 2014 NSSA Nationals

The Rip Curl juniors team had a record breaking week down at the 2014 NSSA National Championships held at the south side of Huntington Beach Pier. With a total of 5 champions, and 12 finalists between the Open and Explorer divisions, the Rip Curl team held its own against the best surfers in the country.

Taking down an astounding 3 first place titles, one runner up finish, and the Kalani Robb overall performance was Brisa Hennessy of Kailua, Oahu. Brisa surfed poised and determined all event long as she racked up countless excellent scoring rides. Congratulations to Brisa for achieving such an amazing accomplishment.

Wyatt McHale, North Shore, Oahu, was another standout who took home his first ever National title in a hard fought Open Boys final. Wyatt nailed a 9 point score on the buzzer to take the victory! Wyatt also placed 3rd in the Explorer Menehune division.

Rip Curl's youngest competitor, Jett Schilling, San Clemente, surfed well beyond his 11 year old age, while placing in two finals and walking away as the Open Mini-Grom National champion. Jett surfed razor sharp all event, as he marched his way to a win, and a 3rd place in the Open Boys.

Other Rip Curl finalist's include, Cole Alves (4th Explorer Menehune, Junior Air Show Finalist), Luke Gordon (5th Explorer Boys), and Bailey Nagy (4th Explorer Womens).

Rip Curl is extremely proud of their young juniors team and is excited about their very bright futures!
