The Rip Curl Crew Takes in Summer Fun and Beach Clean Up with Rip Curl Planet Day 2013
On a sunny Friday in late June, the Rip Curl crew gathered for their annual "Rip Curl Planet Day" – a day dedicated to the beach with trash clean up and surf gathering at San Mateo point and San Onofre State Beach. Kicking off with breakfast and coffee at The Rip Curl Surf Center in San Clemente, the crew took in a few words from Rip Curl USA head honcho Kelly Gibson before taking the serene walk down to Trestles and points beyond. As they made their way, they picked up, hauled, and removed every piece of plastic, cigarette butt, and any refuse they encountered.
After a morning spent participating in the clean up effort, the crew then gathered for a BBQ and multiple surf sessions at the historic San Onofre State Beach. With plenty of grub, games of volleyball, and laughs on hand, the crew got their fill of sun, sand, and surf time. The smiles were contagious and all agreed that the day was a success. With so much to grateful for, yet another Rip Curl Planet Day came and went as a kick off to summer fun and an appreciation for all that Mother Nature has given us.
