Gromsearch European Finals: A Weekend Of Surfing Excellence And Enriching Experiences
The Gromsearch European Finals, a thrilling showcase of emerging young surf talents, unfolded over the weekend at the picturesque Chambre d’Amour. Against the backdrop of 2 to 3ft waves, the finest groms from each nation engaged in fierce competition to claim victory.
Beyond the surf action, the event village buzzed with excitement. Citroen provided an exclusive opportunity for attendees to test drive their electric car model, AMI. Oakley delighted participants with their latest sunglasses collection and hosted an engaging PlayStation tournament. Surf enthusiasts had the chance to experience the craftsmanship of Cabianca surfboards through free trials, expertly guided by Johnny Cabianca. These sessions not only showcased the boards but also imparted insights on their significance throughout a surfer's journey.
Within the athlete area, Jojo Acai treated all participants to invigorating acai bowls, ensuring both nourishment and vitality. Yon from the Cabinet Bellahara n Hendaye shared valuable physiotherapy sessions and wisdom on maintaining youthful athleticism. Pura Vida added a touch of elegance by gifting sea-inspired jewelry to all the female participants.
The crowning moment arrived with the Oakley grand prize awarded to Alvaro Casanova, who achieved an impressive heat score total of 16.17 points. As a testament to his excellence, he received a €500 discount off his upcoming flight, an all-expenses-paid trip for two to the Rip Curl Pro Peniche in Portugal, and an exclusive coaching session with Oakley Global Surf Manager / Coach Tom Whitaker.
Mathias Canhoto of Portugal clinched the "Citroen Best Maneuver" title for his stunning backside blowtail during the semifinals. A stellar performance that earned him a Citroennist starter pack.
Rip Curl extends its gratitude to the Gromsearch sponsors – Citroen, Oakley, FCS, and Pura Vida – whose unwavering support contributed to the event's success.
