May 3, 2016 - Ala Moana - Honolulu, Hawaii: The world’s best junior surfers were welcomed to the shores of Ala Moana, Hawaii yesterday for the 2016 Rip Curl GromSearch International Final, where surfers from across 7 regions will compete for the prestigious International title. Athletes were greeted with warm water and waist high waves at the Ala Moana Bowl lefthander, followed by the official opening ceremony filled with traditional Hawaiian dance and cuisine.
First round of competition for both the boys and girls division is a seeding round, which will determine how surfers are placed into the main draw of competition.
Competition kicked off this morning (May 3rd, 2016), with all the action kicking off at 8am HST.
