For her very first Challenger Series in Ericeira, Tya Zebrowski finishes in second place

Nothing seems to be able to stop the 13-year-old French phenom, who made it to the final of the CS in Ericeira, only falling to Australia's Sally Fitzgibbons.

"Tya Zebrowski" and "she’s only 13" were on everyone's lips during the Ericeira Pro. In Portugal, day after day, the young French surfer continued to amaze both surfers and spectators alike during her first-ever Challenger Series.

With a wildcard in hand after winning three QS events — Anglet, Newquay, and Pantin — Tya clinched an impressive second-place finish, losing with honor to the seasoned Australian, Sally Fitzgibbons, who has 14 years of CT experience under her belt. Fitzgibbons led the final, and despite a bold attempt at an air reverse, Tya couldn’t turn the tide. However, she once again showcased her exceptional talent, landing an incredible layback maneuver that earned her a 5.50 for that single move.

Throughout the competition at Ribeira d'Ilhas, Tya continued to shine, defeating the likes of Isabella Nichols, Nikki Van Dijk, Kirra Pinkerton, and Luana Silva. In the round of 16 against Silva, the French surfer held her priority until the very end, preventing the Brazilian from making a comeback. Against Australian Isabella Nichols, Tya followed through on her promise from the day before by landing a perfectly executed air reverse, scoring an 8.43 and taking control of the heat.

What’s next for Tya Zebrowski? While awaiting confirmation on whether she'll participate in next year’s Challenger Series, the young French surfer is also qualified for the international final of the GromSearch in Bali.

On the men's side, another Rip Curl team member made waves: Samuel Pupo. The Brazilian claimed his third Challenger Series victory and learned in Ericeira that he has qualified for the CT next year. Strong throughout his heats, he secured the win in the final against Australian Callum Robson.
