The Italian GromSearch Stop Took Place in Fregene

GromSearch 2025 - ItalyGromSearch 2025 - Italy

Congratulations to the winners of the GromSearch Italy! The first European stop of the competition was held on Sunday, March 16, at Levante Beach, Fregene, on the west coast of Italy, near Rome.

Sixty young Italian surfing talents competed in this event, bringing together the country's best male and female hopefuls. ASD Barefoot, a historic surfing association in the Lazio region and a true pioneer of the sport, expertly organized the competition under the supervision of the FISSW (Italian Federation of Surfing, Water Skiing, and Wakeboarding), represented by its president, Claudio Ponzani.

The conditions were particularly demanding: strong winds reaching 18 knots, waves peaking at two meters‚ a true technical challenge that pushed the surfers to give their very best.

Event Winners:

  • U16 Girls: Magnolia Rossi
  • U14 Girls: Caterina Congiu
  • U12 Girls: Andrea Rossi
  • U16 Boys: Francisco Anglani
  • U14 Boys: Michael Monteiro
  • U12 Boys: Rocco Rigliaco

The GromSearch is Back on a Global Scale!

This stop marked the grand return of the Rip Curl GromSearch, not only in Europe but also across the globe, including Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, the United States, Brazil, and South Africa.

Dedicated to young surfing talents, this event is organized in collaboration with local clubs, federations, and the World Surf League (WSL). It provides a unique platform for the next generation of world-class surfers to showcase their skills.

The term "grom" is short for "grommet," an Australian and Californian slang word referring to a young, often highly talented surfer.
