Griffin Colapinto and Johanne Defay Win the 2024 MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal.

The iconic break of Supertubos, Peniche Portugal delivered a high-performance showcase for an epic conclusion to the 2024 MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal.

Johanne Defay earns her maiden Portuguese crown and Griffin Colapinto garners his second MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal win as Supertubos turned the tide to pristine afternoon conditions.

Near-perfection from Griffin Colapinto's Supertubos screamer secured him a second MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal victory, this time over good friend and in-form Ethan Ewing in a dominant Final performance. Colapinto steals the yellow jersey from Ewing's grasp as the world’s best gear up for the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach.

“When a fire is burning, add an extra log. It’ll burn twice as strong. The fire is burning extra strong now!”

“I had hip surgery in the off season and it took me about three months to get back in the water. I went over to Hawaii and got two ninths. You think the results are going to happen straight away but you just have to have trust, now I got a win so I’m psyched.” - Griffin Colapinto post win.

Reunion Island's own Johanne Defay battled her way atop the podium against long-time rival 2x World Surfing Champion Tyler Wright, earning her first Championship Tour win since 2022. Defay moves to No. 2 on the rankings behind Molly Picklum.

“Last year was fun and weird at the same time, I really enjoyed my time at home while injured, it was a break I deserved. Coming back to contest was a bit hard, just finding my feet in my surfing and contest fire I guess. I super worked hard, I’m just so happy with what my team did to make me feel confident and happy in my own skin.” - Johanne Defay post win.
