Returns, Refunds and Repairs FAQ's
SurfLite UPF 50+ rash vests
Why is Rip Curl offering refunds for its white and yucca rash vests?
As a leading provider of high-quality surfwear, Rip Curl is committed to ensuring the satisfaction of our valued customers. We take our quality control checks very seriously and recently identified a small batch of SurfLite rash vests in white and yucca (light blue) sold from July 2023 until recently, that may not live up to the UPF50+ rating. These four products were manufactured for Rip Curl in Bangladesh. We have decided to withdraw these rash vests from sale and offer customers who bought these rash vests a full refund, exchange or credit.
What products are affected?
This quality issue only affects four rash vests in the SurfLite range that were manufactured for Rip Curl in Bangladesh from July 2023. The style numbers are 12ARBV, 12BBRV, 14YMRV, 14ZMRV. The rash vests are for men and boys and are white and yucca (light blue) colourways only.
Are these products safe?
While these products provide sun protection, they may not be to the level we expect (UPF 50+) and know our customers expect. That is the reason for this quality notification to customers, and the reason we are offering the customers who bought any of these products a full refund, exchange or credit.
What should I do if I have purchased a white or yucca rash vest?
This quality issue only affects four products manufactured for Rip Curl in Bangladesh from July 2023. The style numbers are: 12ARBV, 12BBRV, 14YMRV, 14ZMRV in the white and yucca (light blue) colourways. If you have purchased a men’s or boys' white or yucca SurfLite rash vest from Rip Curl within the last four months, that is also labelled “Made in Bangladesh” we recommend that you return it to the Rip Curl store you purchased it from, OR contact Rip Curl customer service on au.customerservice@ripcurl.comor call (03) 5261 0022.
Do I need to return the product to get a refund?
Yes. You will need to provide the product to receive a refund, exchange or credit. We appreciate you providing proof of purchase, however, we recognise this may not be possible so it’s not required.
Can I keep the product?
To receive a refund, exchange or credit, you must return the product. Given that the UPF rating may not be as high as noted on the product, we recommend you stop wearing the product and bring it into the store as it may not provide the level of sun protection we expect.
What if I've already worn a white or yucca rash vest? Can I still return it?
Yes, you can still return the rash vest for a refund, exchange or credit even if it has been worn.
How can I be sure that the replacement rash vest I exchange it for meets the UPF50+ rating?
No other Rip Curl rash vests are affected by this issue. You can trust that a rash vest you exchange yours for will provide an excellent level of sun protection as required for a UPF50+ rating.
What if I don’t have a receipt?
If you have the product/s and it matches the style number and product description (men’s/boys, white or yucca/light blue, Made In Bangladesh), you can get a refund, exchange or credit, regardless of whether you have proof of purchase.
What if I’ve bought this product through a third party?
Please either return it to the store you bought it from for a refund (you’ll need your proof of purchase) or contact Rip Curl customer service at au.customerservice@ripcurl.comor call (03) 5261 0022 and they will support you to receive a refund, exchange or credit.
What about other rash vests?
No other Rip Curl rash vests or other colours in the SurfLite range are affected.
