Introducing Rip Curl’s E7 FlashBomb HeatSeeker, The Ultimate Performance Cold Water Wetsuit
A breakthrough in cold-water wetsuits.
In 2018 Rip Curl introduced the Flashbomb HeatSeeker, a revolutionary wetsuit that combined a new level of technology and innovation to create a rubber unparalleled in warmth. Today, Rip Curl is excited to reveal the the E7 FlashBomb HeatSeeker, our next step in the wetsuit revolution.
By combining the Heat Seeker technology with E7, our super high stretch foam, the the E7 FlashBomb HeatSeeker is the ultimate performance cold water wetsuit.
“The wetsuit team at Rip Curl are continually researching and developing technology that will improve the way surfing wetsuits feel, function and perform,” says Cam Lamperd, Rip Curl’s Global Head of Wetsuits. “E7 was first introduced to surfers the world over with the Limited Edition E-Bomb E7 wetsuit, joint developed over three years with World Champion surfers Mick Fanning, Tyler Wright and Gabriel Medina. Now we are introducing this same super high-stretch foam into our ultimate warmth wetsuit, the HeatSeeker.
“We have introduced double-lined E7 throughout the entire wetsuit which provides incredible stretch and durability,” continues Cam. “The unique one-piece back and shoulder panel is designed to provide maximum stretch, and movement warms the wetsuit through our internal stretch energy lining. As you move through the water, the Flex Energy activates and heats the wetsuit while you move. If you stay active, you stay warm.”
3x World Champion Mick Fanning was one of the first Rip Curl surfers to test the E7 FlashBomb HeatSeeker wetsuit. “When Rip Curl gives me a product that feels better than the last, I push them to get it on the market,” says Mick.
“I want the general public to be able to surf as freely in a wetsuit as I do.”
“The first time I tried this wetsuit I was stoked to be able to move like I was in a normal suit. As the water gets colder the rubber gets thicker, and in the past a warmer suit could feel like a straitjacket. The extra flexibility and stretch the E7 FlashBomb HeatSeeker provides is a huge welcome, and it makes life in the cold a lot easier.”
Up-and-coming Australian female surfer Molly Picklum is currently vying for her spot on the WSL Championship Tour, and is constantly searching for rubber that allows her to perform at her best. “It is so important for me to have the best wetsuit in the water to optimise my performance, especially when it comes to the cold,” says Molly. “I’ve always struggled to keep warm and I hate thick wetsuits because I feel too heavy and stiff. That’s why I’m super excited about Rip Curl’s new E7 FlashBomb HeatSeeker wetsuit..
“The first time I tried the wetsuit I was honestly so happy. To have a cold water wetsuit that doesn’t require more material to be warm, and is therefore not as restrictive, is an amazing feeling in the water. I’m able to stay warm while also comfortably perform at the level that elite surfing requires – paddling quickly, feeling light, fast and flexible. No other wetsuit compares in terms of warmth and stretch.”
The wetsuit team at Rip Curl are continually researching and developing technology that will improve the way surfing wetsuits feel, function and perform. With a company-owned wetsuit manufacturing facility and a world-class R&D team, it’s the lengths we go that make the difference. Over the decades this has been proven through the release of more innovations in surfing wetsuits than manufacturers and brands combined.
“Wetsuits are in the DNA of Rip Curl,” says Cam, Rip Curl’s Head of Wetsuits. “And we pride ourselves in being the leaders in wetsuit technology.”
