Rip Curl GromSearch International Final covered by Sun Bum to hit Bali!

The location for the prestigious Rip Curl GromSearch International Final covered by Sun Bum has just been confirmed for 2024. The world’s best junior surfers aged 16 and under will be battling it out for the coveted crown on the tropical island of Bali. 

Established in 1999, the iconic Rip Curl GromSearch event is regarded as a breeding ground for future champions of the sport, with World Surfing Champions including Steph Gilmore, Gabriel Medina, Carissa Moore, Tyler Wright and Felipe Toledo; joined by Olympic medalists Caroline Marks, Owen Wright and Jack Robinson as notable former GromSearch competitors. The fact that GromSearch finalists have won the last 17 WSL Women’s World Titles and 5 of the 6 medalists at both of the last two Olympic Games is testament to the legacy of this international event. 

Young surfing phenoms around the planet are currently competing in national events to see who will secure the coveted few spots for the 2024 International final. Just eight girls and eight boys make the cut, from regions like the USA, Australia, Indonesia, Europe, Brazil and South Africa. There are also two international wildcard slots to be announced per division, including the #GromSearchOnline winners (stay tuned for details!). 

In addition to incredible waves and hospitality in Bali, competitors will also be mentored by WSL Tour surfers Stephanie Gilmore and Molly Picklum during the event, who will be acting as ‘GromSearch Captains’ for the assembled athletes. The two superstars of professional surfing will provide competitors with first-hand insight into heat strategies and the keys to representing their country at the elite level, whilst ensuring everyone can have fun and enjoy the experience.
