Tom Curren Rocks the Huntington Beach Grand Re-Opening

Tom Curren, Peter Townend, HB locals, Groms, and Rip Curl Crew celebrate the Grand Re-Opening of Rip Curl Huntington Beach

The Monday after the Super Bowl is considered a rest day for most of the population… but at Rip Curl Huntington Beach, the party was just getting started.

After its initial redesign in 2008, the Rip Curl Huntington Beach store received a major overhaul during the 2019 holiday season. Walls were ripped down and put back up, the latest surfboards and hardgoods were moved in and the entire store got a fresh face lift. This new design reflects the go forward look and feel of all Rip Curl USA stores from here on out.

To celebrate a state-of-the-art, beautiful new design, a celebratory party with the surrounding HB community only felt right. Huntington locals, industry folk, surf legends, groms, and Rip Curl Crew all gathered for a night of Wahoo’s Fish Tacos, Towne Park Brew Co. and a special appearance by none other than famed Rip Curl alumni, Tom Curren.

Tom met with hundreds of lined up fans, waiting for an autographed poster and picture with the 3x ASP World Champion. Fans young and old enjoyed one on one conversations and stories about their favorite TC moments. An appearance by the first ever World Champ, Peter Townend (PT) led to a reminiscing session with stories about a life on the Search and their relationship throughout the years.

While not on the Search, Tom has used his free time to assemble quite the epic band, performing at various venues all over the world… now including the new Huntington Beach store floor. The band cranked the sound to eleven while the crowd mingled, enjoying an intimate performance by one of our sports biggest legends. Think he’s good on a surfboard? Wait until you see him play a guitar.

Missed the party but want to checkout the store yourself? Head down to 155 5th Street, Suite 101 in Huntington Beach for a glimpse of our new location. Be sure to stop by Tom and PT’s Walk of Fame stars, just down the street on your way home!
